Filipino fashion designers have been making waves on the global stage, showcasing their unique blend of cultural heritage and modern aesthetics. One of them is Leo Almodal, whose recent solo show at Okada Manila’s Grand Ballroom wowed audiences with his couture creations. Almodal’s rise to prominence is proof of his talent and passion for design, a journey that began in his childhood and has now culminated in a breathtaking fashion show.

The Cebuano-Masbateño designer’s love for fashion was ignited at a tender age, inspired by images of religious icons and fairy tale princesses. Although initially discouraged by his parents, both of whom worked in the garment industry, Almodal’s determination led him to pursue his dreams. “I was doing it on a part-time basis. I accept designing and sewing work while studying,” Almodal shared how he started as a designer. “My late father was a tailor. My mother was a dressmaker. They both discouraged me to follow in their footsteps.”

After a brief stint as a teacher, he found his calling in a bridal couture shop, where his skills quickly caught the attention of international clients. This pivotal moment propelled him to Bahrain, where he honed his craft and developed his signature style.

Fast forward 23 years, Almodal’s inaugural solo show marked a significant milestone in his career. The event showcased over 60 exquisite designs, each one a testament to his meticulous craftsmanship and boundless creativity. From the ethereal Sun collection to the enchanting Forest and dramatic Snow-and-Blood ensembles, Almodal’s creations dazzled with their intricate beadwork, luxurious fabrics, and bold silhouettes. As models graced the runway, including actresses and beauty queens, the audience was transported into Almodal’s fantastical world, where glamor and artistry converge.

The beautiful creations were modeled by the likes of actresses Max Collins, Sanya Lopez, Ara Mina, Arci Muñoz; beauty queens Jamie Herrell (Miss Earth 2014), Angelia Ong (Miss Earth 2015), Gazini Ganados (Miss Universe-Philippines 2019), Maureen Montagne (Miss Globe 2021), Yllana Marie Aduana (Miss Earth-Air 2023), Pauline Amelinckx (Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up), and more.

Leo Almodal’s recent fashion show was a dazzling display of his signature style, solidifying his position as a leading figure in Philippine fashion. His shimmering creations, often adorned with crystals and gems, transform wearers into living jewels. This commitment to extravagance was evident in the show’s stunning pieces, each a testament to his talent and vision.

Presented by Aura Events Management, the show left audiences excited for Almodal’s future designs.
