Phoenix, Arizona witnessed a triumphant moment when Gela Atayde and her dance crew, Legit Status, brought home Filipino pride by clinching a title at the World of Dance Championship. This victory marked the beginning of Gela’s journey into the showbiz industry, officially sharing her remarkable talent. The occasion was celebrated with a press conference hosted by Star Magic, offering insights into the rising star’s aspirations and family ties.

For those familiar with the name “Atayde,” it’s no surprise that Gela hails from the illustrious Atayde family, renowned in the entertainment world. She is the daughter of the acclaimed actress Sylvia Sanchez and the sister of the dynamic duo: first district of Quezon City Congressman Arjo Atayde and actress Ria Atayde.

Gela’s journey into the world of dance began with inspiration from her brother, whose captivating performances ignited her own artistic passion. As she delved into competitive dancing and competitions, Gela discovered that her true forte lay in this demanding art form. Despite the pressure to match the success of her accomplished siblings in the entertainment industry, they offered unwavering support. They emphasized that each individual possesses unique strengths, and for Gela, that strength manifested on the dance floor.

When asked about the advice her mother imparted before venturing into show business, Gela fondly recalled, “She simply told me, ‘kaya mo yan nak, kaya mo yan nak.’ For me, it’s this simplicity that made a profound impact because my mom has a unique way of motivating not only me but also my siblings and my dad.” Gela’s artistic inspiration was nurtured by her mother, whom she accompanied to work commitments during her childhood.
