Non-profit organization Pinoy Aksyon (Pilipino Aksyon for Governance and the Environment)and writers’ collective KM64 present “#SanaOil,’’ an event designed to raise awareness about ongoing sovereignty issues in the West Philippine Sea. Featuring a spoken word slam competition, songs, dances, flash mobs, and other artistic displays, the event brings together Filipino artists to creatively champion the issue of the West Philippine Sea.

Set on Sunday, April 28, from 5 to 8 PM at the historic Kartilya ng Katipunan in Manila, within the Manila City Hall area, #SanaOil blends entertainment with information. Flash mob dances, spoken word poetry, live music, and theatrical performances create a unique platform to inform attendees about Philippine sovereignty.

“We know this is not the first of its kind of actions, and we hope this is not the last, but rather a continuing endeavor among artists and sectors until our waters in the West Philippine Sea are at peace and our fisherfolks are threat-free in exercising their fishing rights,” Pia Montalban of KM64 adds.

A highlight of the event is the Spoken Word Slam Competition, where contestants deliver original prose and poetry on the theme “Atin ang #TubigatLangis sa West Philippine Sea! Atin and West Philippine Sea!” The “Atin ang Pinas!” competition provides a stage for individuals to express their patriotism and calls for action.

#SanaOil also features a Sabayang Bigkas with KM64 artists, plus performances by the Kalipaya Theatre Group, Jong Madaliday, Fifty Per Hour, Tanghalang Bagong Sibol Theater and Dance Company, Chiang Lion & Dragon Dance, Hype Dancers, and Justine Taller. Drag Race Philippines Season 1 Miss Congeniality, Lady Morgana, will host the event.
