Vice Ganda retains his magic, ‘Partners in Crime’ with Ivana Alawi rules the MMFF entries
In an intimate interview, Vice Ganda was honest to admit that there is pressure to deliver after his long film hiatus. Given the current situation, the pandemic has yet to end, watching in-person can still be a challenge for a lot of people. With a record of box-office hits and phenomenal TV and concert success, Vice knows the expectations on Partners in Crime, the official Metro Manila Film Fest entry he’s starring in with Ivana Alawi.
As results would have it, Vice Ganda should be relieved. He has undoubtedly worked his charm again at the box office with Partners in Crime raking in ticket sales and fully booked cinemas. His magic was also boosted by Ivana’s.
Unofficial news reports claim the film currently rules the eight official entries, reportedly earning P31 million on its first day. The movie was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films.
The story:
Jack (Vice Ganda) and Rose (Ivana Alawi) make a deal to put an end to their rivalry. Separately, they infiltrate the private party of the richest man in the Philippines, Don Bill. Whoever gets an exclusive interview with him stays as the host of the show. They both enter his room…only to find his dead body! A Mystery Man calls. Jack and Rose have become the primary suspects. He threatens to release altered CCTV video depicting Don Bill’s murder at their hands unless they bring him the three secret coins all over Don Bill’s mansion.
Jack and Rose partner up, rekindling something from the past and forcing themselves to confront their history. In the end, they realize that they are truly each other’s perfect partner, even in a crime they did not commit.
