After a successful local premiere attended by local celebrities and media personalities last October 3, highly acclaimed Japanese film “Monster” is now showing in Philippine cinemas.

During a recent trip to the Cannes Film Festival, Nathan Studios teamed up with award-winning actress Lorna Tolentino and 888 Films International to secure the rights to the Japanese drama film “Monster.” Directed by the visionary Hirokazu Kore-eda and penned by the talented Yuji Sakamoto, “Monster” is no ordinary dramatic offering. It clinched the prestigious Best Screenplay award at Cannes, bearing testament to the intricate craftsmanship of storytelling at its finest.
For director Kore-eda, “Monster” represents a significant milestone in his career, marking the first time he has helmed a film not of his own writing since “Maborosi” in 1995. Furthermore, the film’s musical score holds a cherished place in cinematic history, for it serves as the final project of the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto, who tragically succumbed to cancer just two months before the film’s release. In essence, “Monster” stands as a poignant tribute to his enduring legacy.
