Gab Pangilinan-Salomon: From Stage to Screen
Filipino stage sensation Gab Pangilinan-Salomon, known for her outstanding performances in theater productions and TV series, is set to make her mark on the silver screen in an upcoming musical fantasy film called “ASTER.” After captivating audiences with two successful stage productions, “Ang Huling El Bimbo” and “Mula sa Buwan,” Gab takes on the role of a 25-year-old provincial girl who returns home with modest achievements, despite once being an academic scholar.
In “ASTER,” Gab’s character, Aster, grapples with the pressure to meet her family and community’s expectations while pursuing her true passion for writing. Along the way, she becomes enmeshed in the secrets and legends of the artistic, musical town nearby. Joining Gab in this magical journey are talented actors like Mike Shimamoto, Floyd Tena, Marisa Del Prado, and a special appearance by the legendary musical icon, Ms. Celeste Legaspi.

She’s also reuniting with her husband and fellow theater artist, Myke, to take on the lead roles in the Barefoot Theatre Collaborative’s (BTC) first international, award-winning Off-Broadway production, “The Last Five Years,” set to dazzle audiences in September. In this production, Gab and Myke breathe life into the characters of Cathy, an aspiring actress, and Jamie, a writer.
Originally slated to compete in the Metro Manila Film Festival, “ASTER” took an unexpected turn when MAN-G Production decided to postpone its release. This move was made to ensure the film receives the finishing touches it deserves, promising a top-notch experience for its viewers. Crafting the film’s intricate special effects for its musical fantasy theme requires meticulous attention, contributing to the delay.
