Sylvia Sanchez embraces being second choice for ‘Jesusa’ role, sends out a kind message to Nora Aunor
Sylvia Sanchez is one of the country’s “late bloomers” in showbiz. While she’s been around taking on supporting roles left and right for years, she wasn’t given the big lead star break until recently. Now, after the successful runs of The Greatest Love and Hanggang Saan as ABS-CBN teleseryes, Sylvia is set to conquer the big screen as JESUSA. The film’s title is of the same name.

Jesusa is something different from other projects Sylvia had done before. The film is about a woman who became a willing victim of the prohibited drugs. She is a simple woman who leads a rather monotonous life with her unfaithful husband.
During the press conference of the film, it was revealed that the lead role was initially offered to Nora Aunor but the Superstar backed out from the project. Sylvia did not mind being the second choice and gladly took on the challenging role. She still had nothing but kind words for Nora no matter what others say, “Ikaw pa rin ang nasa top. Ikaw pa rin ang nirerespeto ko. Ikaw pa rin ang nag-iisang Nora Aunor. Walang makakapantay, walang makakalagpas.”
