LOOK: The Korean fried chicken you see in K-drama has a new branch in Quezon City!
If you’re based in the North and in for an authentic “chimaek” experience, head over to Robinsons Magnolia Level 3 and you’ll find the newest branch of bb.q Chicken (the first one is at UG BGC Central C3, Taguig!), the South Korean fried chicken brand we often see in K-drama series. What is chimaek, you ask? Chimaek is the Korean term for the pairing of fried chicken and beer, served as anju (otherwise known as pulutan here – food that goes well with alcohol) in the evening in many South Korean food places. bb.q Chicken, aside from its different flavors of crunchy and crispy fried chicken, also serves a wide variety of drinks. The one I personally enjoyed is the Yakult float!
Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson and his LCS Group of Companies are instrumental in bringing the world-famous fried chicken to the Philippines. Yes, the bb.Q fried chicken craze has reached 57 countries with 3,500 branches all over the world. As the US website has it, “A Korean franchise. An American obsession.”
In a grand opening last Sunday, attended by Singson’s family and friends from showbiz and politics, he announced, “Maraming salamat po sa pagpunta niyo dito. Itong bb.q Chicken, galing sa Korea ito, pero puwede sa lahat ng investors, pinafranchise.” He went on to share that this is open to Filipinos for franchising and he negotiated for the training to be done here instead of the usual two-month rigorous training in South Korea’s “Chicken University.” Based on numbers, bb.q is definitely looking great in going global!
