MMFF entry Mallari holds star-studded mediacon & fancon
The upcoming film “Mallari,” an entry in the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival, has engaged in numerous media conferences to generate interest in its semi-biographical portrayal of the first documented Filipino serial killer. Elevating its promotional efforts, the film organized a “FanCon” as a prelude to the Christmas Day screening.
Lead actor Piolo Pascual, embodying three distinct characters in the film, emphasized the FanCon as a means to connect with the audience beyond mere promotion. Singer-actress Janella Salvador expressed excitement about the Q&A session, a novel experience for her, considering it a valuable opportunity to engage with supporters.
JC Santos, portraying Bro. Lucas in the film, celebrated the FanCon as a unique experience, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate with the audience. Salvador highlighted the significance of the event, especially the chance to perform in front of a live audience after a prolonged hiatus due to the pandemic and personal commitments.
Santos acknowledged the event as a celebration of Mentorque, the production company behind the film, praising their exceptional treatment of the cast and setting high standards for future projects. Pascual echoed sentiments of gratitude, emphasizing FanCon as a platform to express appreciation to the audience.
Pascual noted the contemporary desire for interactive experiences, emphasizing that FanCon serves not only as a promotional tool but also as a way to connect with the audience on a personal level. He elaborated on his roles in the film, where he plays the titular character and two fictitious members of the Mallari clan from different eras.
“Mallari” stands out as the first mainstream Filipino movie distributed by Warner Brothers Pictures, hinting at potential international screenings. Mentorque Productions President John Bryan Diamante teased the collaboration with the global media giant during a media conference.
As one of the official entries in the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival, “Mallari” is set to premiere on Christmas Day, December 25, promising a captivating cinematic experience.
