A maiden venture by BMC Films in collaboration with Smart Films, this production, possibly the most budget-friendly among this year’s contenders, and the sole entry with an LGBTQ theme, boasts confidence from its director, Lemuel Lorca, who believes that their modest project is destined to evoke colossal sentiments.

The storyline of “Broken Hearts Trip” revolves around a reality TV show hosted by Bables, who also assumes the role of one of the three “Judgers,” alongside the talented Tart Carlos and seasoned actress Jaclyn Jose. The show explores the lives of five LGBTQ individuals, portrayed by Teejay Marquez, Marvin Yap, Petite, 2018 Cinema One Best Actress Iyah Mina, and Andoy Ranay, each grappling with heartbreak.

Captured against the breathtaking backdrops of the Philippines, the film unveils a distinctive reality competition concept sponsored by a corporate entity. Contestants stand a chance to win a one-million-peso cash prize if they manage to stay single by the culmination of the journey. As the participants traverse picturesque locations, they confront their pasts, seek healing, and contemplate whether their quest is driven by financial gain or genuine love.
