RC Gomez Entertainment Productions (RCGEP) has a profound vision: to craft inspirational stories through their latest film, “The Special Gift.” Directed by Lawrence Roxas and produced by Roy Gomez, the movie stars Franchesco Maafi, affectionately known as Choco, a talented actor who has graced various shows on GMA. Joining him in the cast are Soliman Cruz, Mike Lloren, Malou Canzana, Migui Moreno, Ella Sheen, BJ Tolits Forbes, Romina Caulian, and Angelo Gomez.

Before the pandemic struck, Direk Lawrence and producer Roy embarked on a film project that aimed to honor our beloved teachers and celebrate heroism. However, the COVID-19 restrictions forced them to halt the pre-production work. As shooting restrictions eased, they courageously decided to pursue the endeavor, giving birth to RCGEP.

But RCGEP’s ambition extends beyond just making a film. They aspire to share “The Special Gift” with various schools in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd). This film also marks Lawrence Roxas’ directorial debut in a full-length feature, and together, they strive to inspire audiences with this powerful and heartfelt story.

Direk Lawrence shared, “It all began with a film that didn’t materialize. Two years later, we conceptualized a story that we could take to different schools. The film revolves around a family with unique talents or gifts, showcasing the strength of familial bonds.” Consequently, they retained the title “The Special Gift” for the film.

For Choco, this project is a dream come true, as it marks his first lead debut film after portraying various roles in different shows like Ronron in “Beautiful Justice,” Nonoy in “Nakarehas Na Puso,” young Enzo (Xian Kim) in “Hearts on Ice,” and many others. “I’m extremely happy right now because I was given the opportunity to portray this role properly,” Choco expressed gratefully.

The heartwarming story revolves around ten-year-old Liam (Franchesco Maafi), who receives immense love from his mother and siblings but faces the challenges of bullying at school and constant scolding from his strict father. Despite being an exceptional boy, Liam’s true potential surfaces only through the dedication of his teachers. He excels in most subjects but struggles with math, showing exceptional talent in the arts. Unfortunately, his father, who controls every aspect of the family’s life, prohibits him from pursuing his artistic gifts. As family problems escalate, Liam’s participation in an art competition becomes a tipping point. In a confrontation with his furious father, Liam defends himself and eventually runs away, left with nowhere to go. As the search for Liam is put on hold, a startling discovery about their father’s past, made by their grandfather (Soliman Cruz), leaves everyone astonished.

Producer Roy Gomez was deeply impressed by Choco’s exceptional talent, evident in the emotional depth he brought to every scene. The astonishing performance left the team amazed, leading Roy to plan more projects for Choco in the future.

Mark your calendars to catch “The Special Gift” premiering in cinemas on September 9, 2023, and witness the touching and inspiring tale unfold.
