Expecially For You searchee Nami couldn’t contain her gratitude after being offered a scholarship by It’s Showtime host and well-loved comedian Vice Ganda.
During the popular blind date segment in the noontime show, Nami mentioned that she is a senior high school graduate who temporarily halted her studies. Currently, she works as a promo girl in a convenience store to support herself. In Filipino, Nami explained, “I stopped [studying] due to financial problems. I’m the only one supporting myself, so I’m afraid that if I enroll in college, I won’t be able to juggle studying and working since I still have monthly rent.”
Nami shared that her parents are in the province, and she doesn’t want to rely on them. “I don’t want to lean on my parents. I want to be a strong independent woman,” Nami said in the vernacular. “They’re also struggling. I just don’t want to be a burden to them. Because my father is disabled, and my sibling is also disabled,” she added.
Despite these challenges, Nami expressed her desire to finish her education.
“But do you want to study? What if I help you finish your studies? If you have the privilege to finish your studies, will you take this privilege, Nami?” Vice asked. “Yes, of course,” Nami replied.
Vice then offered to help her finish her studies. “So I will send you to school,” the popular host declared. He told Nami, “If you are willing to take the opportunity, I will give you a chance to study.”
Nami, already sharing tears, admittedd that it has always been her dream to complete her studies.
“My dream is really to finish my studies, which is why I came to Manila to pursue it. And then, there were problems with the house I was staying in, so I decided to live alone, to provide for myself,” Nami said.
“I admire that you’re being independent, but even independent women, they also need help and support. And I would like to send you my support,” Vice expressed.
After being offered the scholarship by Vice, Nami continues being emotional during their conversation. The generous host emphasized how his life would have even been better if he finished his studies. Given his privileged life now, he wishes to share his blessings with others.
