There’s nothing more heartwarming and inspiring than seeing a group of individuals allowing themselves to be channels of hope, help, and inspiration to those in need. The Amazing Hope Outreach Network of Amazing Hope Christian Church International did exactly that when they mounted a concert in the midst of a pandemic. The AHON Digital Concert for a Cause serves as a fundraiser for the benefit of those heavily affected by COVID-19 and typhoon Ulysses.
Last December 26, the concert conformed to the new normal and was held virtually. The run was smooth and you can feel how things were executed out of love and service.
Through the 4-hour digital concert, AHON’s projects were presented and followed by a line up of performances from the talented members of the church and celebrity guests. It was a worship service and musical concert merged into one!
These projects that were implemented this year by AHON are super inspiring. Since March, the group has been providing help to the less fortunate.
- Taal Outreach for those affected by the Taal Volcano eruption
- Share-a-load to Frontliners — Php100-load to 1,000 frontliners
- 500 for a Hundred — Php500 to 100 families affected by COVID-19
- Project 1K — relief bags and hygiene kits for 1,000 families affected COVID-19
- Donation drive for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses
From outside looking in, I felt God’s presence as I watched how the people involved showed so much enthusiasm and passion in what they do best — serving God by serving other people. From the beautifully edited audio-visual presentations, member interviews about faith and reformation, and live performances, one can see the love and hard work behind the cam.
More than the performances by special guests Crystal Voice of Asia Sheryn Regis, TikTok sensation and Star Music artist JMKO (Miko Manguba), and the country’s OPM icon Ogie Alcasid, what I consider a highlight is the set of testimonials from the church’s members about how their lives have been transformed by the love of God and the support of their Amazing Hope Christian Church community. One striking testimonial was that of a woman who volunteered her neighbors for assistance from AHON. She was given an opportunity to find help and alleviate the suffering of others through AHON’s initiative.
The movement aimed to help financially but it spilled over inspiration and motivation for others to join the cause. That’s where the heart of it all lies –going beyond one’s self in service.
“Aahon tayo, lahat malalampasan.” Just like the lyrics of winning song Aahon Tayo in the church’s songwriting contest, AHON gives us hope that together, we can get through anything as long as we have each other and that strong faith in God’s provision.
