Both multi-award winners they are actors Gina Alajar and Ricky Davao. But they never thought it could still happen at their age today that they would be the lead loveteam in their own movie.

“Loveteam ng mga seniors,” Gina laughs. “Sinong mag-aakala na mapipili kami ni Ricky para mahing lead ng pelikula tungkol sa mga possibilities ng mga kaedad namin?” wonders Gina who is known for her Famas and Urian awards as best actress for movies like “Brutal,” “Moral,” and “Salome.” She is also more known today as a television director.

Fellow award-winning actor Ricky Davao shares the same sentiment. “Busy ako noon kasi nagdidirek din ako for TV. But guess what? Hinintay nila ako,” says Ricky with a giggle. “Dapat lang ito mapanood ng lahat because it is about time there are storylines like this where more mature actors are given the spotlight because of what we can bring to the table.”

Gina and Ricky play senior citizens who find each other in the Net25 Films production of “Monday First Screening” — out in no less than 100 cinemas on August 30. Gina speaks candidly about working as early as 9 years old as breadwinner of her family. Ricky sheds tears as he recounts how he witnessed the unexpected death of his 5 year old sister when they were children.

“It is always fascinating talking to those who have real stories to tell. Andami nanaman natin madidiskubre at matututunan sa kuwentuhan kaibigan namin nina Gina and Ricky,” says host Korina Sanchez-Roxas in her latest episode on Korina Interviews, which aired last Sunday, 5 pm on NET 25. Korina Interviews is one of the most viewed in the network. And you can catch the episodes on the Rated Korina Plus YouTube Channel anytime at https://youtube.com/@KorinaSanchez1?si=H8gwEEmWwrdS3dFk
