The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) selection committee has announced last June 29, 2018 the first four films that are to be included in this year’s star-studded festival.
This year’s line-up will see an exciting battle among box office kings and queens:
- Vice Ganda’s “Fantastica: The Princesses, the Prince, and the Perya” (which will also star Loisa Andalio, Maris Racal, and Maymay Entrata). Director: Barry Gonzalez.
- The Coco Martin and Vic Sotto tandem via “Popoy en Jack, the Puliscredibles.” Director: Coco Martin.
- Ann Curtis’ horror flick “Aurora.” Director: Yam Laranas.
- Romantic-comedy “Girl in the Orange Dress” starring Kim Chiu, Jericho Rosales, Jessy Mendiola, Sam Milby, Tom Rodriguez, and Kit Thompson. Director: Jay Abello.
The films were selected based on their scripts following these criteria: Artistic Excellence 40%, Commercial Appeal 40%, Filipino Cultural Sensibility 10%, and Global Appeal 10%. There will be four more titles to be added to the list, but these will be evaluated instead based on the final films (to be submitted on September 21, 2018).
The selection committee is headed by National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera.
