Saving Flora is an American independent film focused on the journey of a 14-year old girl trying to save her family’s circus elephant which could no longer perform tricks due to old age. The night before Flora, the elephant, was set to be euthanized, the girl sneaks her out of the circus. How far will she go for Flora?
The film stars Jenna Ortega, Martin Martinez, David Arquette, Tom Arnold, and Leonor Varela. Brilliant acting performances made a huge contribution to the project. The lead actress Jenna (from Disney Channel) has with her the natural charm that impresses and charisma that makes one believe in her character. She can effectively take viewers on an emotional ride filled with fear, failure, and success. Her willpower and determination could be a source of empowerment and inspiration for the youth.
Saving Flora brings with it the sincerity of conveying an important message of love — love for family, animals, and life, in general. It tells a story of the restorative power of love and how, like adrenaline rush, it can push one to do things beyond what he or she can imagine. In between, bits of kilig are present making the movie perfect for young millennials. For Titas like me (hehe), a pack of tissues is a must. 🙂
The film is more than just an advocacy project reminding us about basic stuff like fighting for animal rights and against cruelty. It is a reminder that we have the strength to tap within us to fight for the things and people we love. As cliche as it may sound, this film’s proof that LOVE does conquer all. In this case, even the seemingly impossible.
Saving Flora hits Philippine cinemas this July 10.
