In an age where Gen Z is often depicted through various stereotypes, Kapuso heartthrob Khalil Ramos is set to break barriers and showcase a different perspective with his lead role in the highly anticipated movie “As If It’s True.” Directed by John Rogers, the film is one of the much-anticipated entries competing in this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival.

For Khalil, who has gained following through his television projects, this marks his first-ever lead role in a Cinemalaya film. The young actor is thrilled to embark on this new creative journey and hopes to challenge the misconceptions surrounding his generation.

“As If It’s True” revolves around the lives of two struggling young adults trying to carve their identities in a vast world. Khalil breathes life into the character of James, a tormented musician battling with depression. Alongside him, Ashley Ortega portrays Gemma Watson, a social media influencer facing the pressures of keeping her followers engaged.

This project marks the first collaboration between Khalil Ramos and Ashley Ortega, and both artists are eager to share their work with the audience, driven by the movie’s powerful message. “As If It’s True” aims to resonate with their generation and create a meaningful impact.

Ortega expressed her excitement and shared how they underwent workshops in preparation for the project. According to the former “Hearts On Ice” star, she will never forget this experience as it was a part of her bucket list as an actress. “The whole experience is really nice and it’s something na hindi ko makakalimutan kasi this is my first Cinemalaya movie and I’ve always wanted to do an indie film,” she said.
