Venus and Shamcey: Triumph of the Morenas

We’d love to call Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup’s back-to-back (almost) wins in the Miss Universe beauty pageant as a triumph of the morenas. Hopefully, their victory will usher in a new era in Pinoy entertainment when there will be more dark-skinned beauties in the industry. There is no dearth of dark-skinned gents in showbiz, so it’s about time copper-skinned ladies make their mark, too.
But we’re still not completely sold on Shamcey’s conservative answer to the Q & A portion. Perhaps a more beauty-pageant-ish answer like “God is love so religion doesn’t matter” would have gone better with the judges. Lol. Just kidding. We do love Shamcey for her honesty.
FYI, Ms. Ukraine’s “I wanna be like Cleopatra” answer IS the beauty pageant-ish answer 😀
