Five years ago, in 2016, Viva Entertainment and TV5 teamed up for the reality-singing competition “BORN TO BE A STAR”.  The show gave birth to the musical career of today’s OST Princess, Janine Teñoso.

New opportunities for talented artists who wish to take a shot at stardom are opening up as the show returns this January. As things may get frustrating at this time of a pandemic, Viva sees the need to revive the show, in cooperation with TV5, Sari-Sari and Cignal, as a reminder that dreams still come true.

Fresh from the success of Masked Singer Pilipinas in late 2020, judge detectives actor-singer-host-endorser Matteo Guidicelli and Jowable breakthrough artist and singer Kim Molina will now be hosting Born To Be A Star

From audition to the intensive screening, Born To Be A Star will follow the journey of the contestants. Screening will be facilitated by the Star Judges.  Joining the show’s alumna Janine Teñoso as a Star Judge is Teacher G (Georcelle Sy, the artistic director and choreographer behind G-Force) who is well-loved by the biggest names in showbiz. Back to do the job is rap icon and singer-songwriter Andrew E who was also among the judges five years ago. Singer-actor Sam Concepcion and the “Suklay Diva” Katrina Velarde complete the lineup of Star Judges.

Out of 40 successful auditionees, only 18 will move on to the next level – the boot camp. This is where training by Star Mentors will begin. These mentors are experts in performing, composing, and songwriting:  Thyro, Wency Cornejo, and Mark Bautista.  Star Judge Teacher G will also mentor in movement and stage presence.

Win or lose, each contestant is going home enriched by all the learnings the show offers. While the goal is to find that one star to win the title,  the process of achieving that will give each participant a moment to conquer the stage, showcase talent, share a story, and prove one’s star potential.

Elimination is not far from happening the moment the show begins. In the end, the grand champion will be awarded with one million pesos in cash and a VIVA recording and management contract.

Since 1981, VIVA has been home to different generations of the country’s stars. The company continues to discover and develop raw talents, help them carve their paths, and provide them with opportunities to shine.

“Born To Be A Star” premieres this January 30, 2021, Saturday, at 7 PM on TV5.
