At the recently held premiere of Metro Manila Film Festival official entry Broken Hearts Trip, lead actor Christian Bables humbly admitted that he is aware of the reality that the movie is not considered by many as a frontrunner. He humbly asked his producer and director for permission to make this statement, “Ito pong mumunting pelikula namin, sa lahat naman po ng mga entries ng MMFF, aware po kami doon sa fact na parang kami ‘yung tinitingnan ng mga tao na medyo nasa bandang huli.” Christian actively asked the guests at the premiere screening to help spread the word that their movie “deserves to be watched.”

What is Broken Hearts Trip all about?

In the quest for answers to life’s profound questions, the much-anticipated comedy-drama flick, Broken Hearts Trip, takes center stage. Steered by award-winning actor Christian Bables, this movie guarantees an emotional rollercoaster blended with hearty laughter.

Scheduled for a nationwide debut on December 25, Broken Hearts Trip proudly represents the 49th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), brought to life by the creative minds at Luminary Productions in collaboration with Visionary Studios.

The storyline orbits around a reality show hosted by Bables himself. As one of the esteemed ‘Judgers,’ he partners with character actress, Tart Carlos, and the movie icon, Jaclyn Jose. Together, they guide the audience through the tumultuous lives of five LGBTQ individuals on the mend, portrayed by Teejay Marquez, Marvin Yap, Petite, Iyah Mina, and Andoy Ranay.

Enduring a series of heartbreaks and seemingly insurmountable challenges, these characters find solace in the picturesque landscapes of the Philippines, sponsored by a corporate agency. The catalyst for their journey is a reality competition where contestants vie for a million-peso cash prize. The catch? They must remain single at the end of their odyssey, forcing them to question whether the pursuit is for money or love.

As the contestants traverse diverse destinations, each one becomes a stage for confronting the past, navigating the path to recovery, and ultimately deciding the true purpose of their journey. The film unveils one participant’s experiences in each episode, capturing the essence of valuable lessons learned amid unforeseen challenges.

Adding vibrancy to the ensemble cast are Jay Gonzaga, Ron Angeles, Argel Saycon, Arnold Reyes, Kevin Posadas, and Sinon Loresca. With their unique charm, they breathe life into engaging characters crafted by a screenplay from the creative mind of Archie Del Mundo, based on an original narrative by Lex Bonife. Executive producers Benjie M. Cabrera, Omar Tolentino, and Power Up Workpool Inc. bring this cinematic masterpiece to fruition.

Excitement abounds as the producers look forward to their MMFF participation, highlighting the film’s perspective on showcasing local tourist attractions while intricately weaving tales of love, heartbreak, resilience, and moving forward.
