Located in the artsy district of Prawirotaman, Dusun Jogja Village Inn promises an enchanting holiday in Yogyakarta and a beginning of an adventure into the rich Javanese culture.

It was noontime when we reached Jogja (the town’s other name which seemed to be highly used by locals) and after a sumptuous local lunch in one of the restaurants we passed by from the airport, we then checked in at the hotel to rest for a bit before we head out for our late night activities (i.e. massage, buffet dinner at Gazebo Garden Restaurant and the Ramayana Ballet at Purawisata).

Surprised by the hotel’s overall homey and cozy ambiance, the 24-room Dusun Jogja Village Inn welcomed us in their dreamy boutique resort haven with a rainforest-inspired outdoor area, romantic rooms, and exceptional Indonesian service.

The Room

We stayed at a Deluxe Twin Bed Room which wore shades of yellow and green muted wall paint while barely illuminated by dim, amorous incandescent lights. Our traditional canopy beds were prettified by the royalty-like mosquito mesh hanging in the bed corners.

The other remarkable feature of the room is their open-air bathroom that probably brings you closer to nature — and in our case, meeting real black spiders that hang in your shower curtains and greet you while taking your shower.

The Facilities

The hotel features a Kayumani Spa where you can get your traditional massages, a spacious mini-theater where you can watch your favorite movies from their library, a saltwater swimming pool, and their NJoglo Restaurant where we had our breakfasts.

What’s Around the Area

Around 5 minutes from the area by becak (local bike) is the foodie street of Jalan Tirtodipuran where we grabbed our dinners and massages, and around 10 minutes away is the shopping street of Marlioboro where you can buy souvenirs and really cheap pieces of clothings.
