She’s not the typical beauty queen we grew up watching. But who would have thought that the stars would align for Rousanne MarieAyn” Bernos in the midst of a pandemic? The 27-year old entrepreneur-content creator-podcaster took the chance earlier this year when the Miss Universe Philippines organization lifted the usual height requirement for their applicants. At 5-feet and 3-inches in height, Ayn aimed high and made it. She is currently on her journey to achieving her childhood dream.

After acing several challenges held in the past few weeks, Ayn worked her way to the Top 30 list of candidates vying for the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 crown tonight.

Hers is a story of transformation and showing up. With enough confidence and love and support from family and friends, Ayn is solid proof that a girl can be anything she wants to be.

Check out my 30-minute Random Chat with this year’s Miss San Juan:

Tonight, I’m excited to witness how a young girl’s dream is about to come true. As she herself would say, merely getting into the competition is already considered success in Ayn’s book. Being able to step on that stage tonight carrying with her advocacies she has started way before knowing she stands a chance means so much to the young Ayn and all the ladies looking up to her now, including me.

With or without a crown, Ayn is a winner. Her continuing efforts to promote self-love, fight against colorism, encourage confidence and empowerment among women make up the invisible crown and sash she’s already wearing.
