Meet Mathew Sygal So, a 19-year-old BS Management Engineering student at Ateneo de Manila University. In the Katipunan campus, Mathew’s course is tagged as one of the toughest as only a small percentage of the college entrance test (popularly known as ACET) passers is admitted into the program. He is looks and brains combined.

“I am very pleased to announce that I am an official candidate for MIPH 2023. Thank you so much for all the love and overwhelming support.” | Mathew’s Instagram announcement | Photos and screengrabs courtesy of Mathew’s Instagram account: @mathew.sygal

Mathew is a dedicated student who puts in a lot of effort into his education. “Aspiring to be a business consultant and entrepreneur someday, I take my academics seriously and actively seek leadership roles to enhance my skills in those areas,” said Mathew.

Over the past year, Mathew has taken on several leadership positions, such as Junior Associate for Externals and Project Manager of the Ateneo Challenge for Transformational Sustainability (ACTS). He is also an active member of AIESEC, a highly respected group that values youth leadership and cultural sensitivity. Looking back at his time in high school, he was awarded the prestigious Xavier School Magis award and played lead roles in various events.

In addition to his academic and leadership pursuits, Mathew is actively involved in serving the community. He volunteers at Xavier Days with the Lord, a community that promotes friendship and upholds Christian principles. He also engages in sports like football and badminton to maintain an active lifestyle.

Mathew believes he deserves the title of Mr. International not only because of his exceptional looks, abilities, and skills that can benefit the community, but also because of his dedication and grit.

Moreover, Mathew serves as an ambassador for several businesses and organizations, including C-Point, Konzept Shoes, Slimmer’s World Ali Mall, and the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA).

As a delegate for Mister International I am fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to meet certain communities that I hold close my heart. Today I was able to help send off the Philippine Paralympic Chess Team as they leave to compete for Combodia in the coming days. I wish them good luck and victory ahead. Likewise, I am asking for you to support them by sending them prayers!” | May 30, Instagram

Keep an eye out for Mathew, the Marikina City’s representative in the Mister International Philippines 2023 competition. The grand coronation night with 55 #DistinctivelyHandsome candidates is happening this June 28 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater at Newport World Resorts.
