“True gentleman. Wala siyang arte sa katawan. May paninindigan. Yihee! Since we are endorsing a skincare product, ‘yun palang aura niya, gentleman na gentleman,” this was how Beautéderm President and CEO Rhea Anicoche-Tan teasingly described her brand’s very first celebrity ambassador, Carlo Aquino, at the Spruce & Dash press launch.

Beautéderm’s Spruce & Dash is a patented line of  products developed and created especially for men. The media presentation of this new concept coincided with Carlo’s renewal of contract with the beauty brand.

Rhea and Carlo’s friendship-turned-partnership dates back to the early days of Beautéderm in 2013. The owner recalled, “Si Carlo kaibigan ko na po siya sa appliance industry pa. So, we are celebrating our 7th year. So, ibig sabihin daw ‘pag 7 years, forever na ‘yun, ‘di ba?” Rhea looked at Carlo and continued,”Malay mo, mag-aabay ako or mag-nininang sa future niya. Minamadali ko na rin siya!” The actor smiled and nodded in agreement.

Lucky charm

Now that Beautéderm has almost 50 brand ambassadors representing the brand, Rhea remains grateful and looks back at how Carlo has always been there for her and her dream business. She said, “Si Carlo kasi ang aking lucky charm! Yes, we now have 108 branches and he was the first ambassador na nag-open ng first branch ng Beautéderm and we’re still together.”

Touching tribute

The beauty mogul could not help but pay tribute to Carlo’s contribution to her success. Rhea shared, “Kaya love na love ko talaga si Carlo. ‘Nung time po na wala pang ganito, when I could not afford to have a presscon, andun po s’ya eh. Kasi sometimes, ‘Who you? Text back.’ Pero si Carlo, kahit parang laru-laro lang namin kasi I was in the appliance industry before eh, ‘nung kinuha ko s’ya. Sideline ko lang po ito talaga. So si Carlo ‘yung isa talaga sa sumasama sa’kin ‘pag opening kahit Nueva Ecija. Wala pang mall na gustong tumanggap sa Beautéderm noon. Napunta kami sa liblib na lugar ng Nueva Vizcaya para lang mag-open ng first branch.” The CEO expressed utmost gratitude to the Kapamilya actor and promised to be there for him all the time. She even jokingly offered to shoulder the expenses for his future wedding reception.

An obviously touched and grateful Carlo responded, “I’m happy and grateful. Ever since naman, user talaga ako ng Beautéderm. Safe to say na inampon talaga ako ni Atsi (Chinese term of endearment for one’s eldest sister).” He shared how generous the business owner is to both ambassadors and resellers and how Beautéderm is very much like a family to each of them.

As part of the renewed partnership, Carlo is reunited with his fellow male Beautéderm ambassadors in the endorsing the previously mentioned new line of products. 

Spruce & Dash men’s line items  are all FDA Notified. The line includes five essential products that men need for their daily grooming. Tan coined the collection’s name based on their basic definitions with spruce being “neat in dress or appearance” and dash being “impetuous with flamboyant vigor and confidence.”

Spruce & Dash includes Beau Charcoal Soap; Hugh Shaving Cream; Brawn Anti-perspirant White Spray for both foot and underarms; Charcoal Charmer Detoxifying Peel-off Mask; and Lad Hair Pomade.   

Carlo, being one of today’s busiest and most sought-after, award-winning young dramatic actors who is currently part of the ensemble cast of ABS-CBN primetime series A Soldier’s Heart as Abraham “Abe” Kamlun, reveals that it is absolutely vital to take care of his skin and personal hygiene especially with his very hectic schedule. “I face a lot of people every day at work and it’s important for me not only to look good but to feel good as well,” said Carlo. “I love Beautéderm’s Spruce & Dash collection and my favorites are the Beau Charcoal Soap as it leaves me fresh and clean after having a shower and Lad Hair Pomade which I regularly use in styling my hair.”
